Computer repair in Lake Oswego, Oregon

Discreet on-site computer repair, home network and small-office support in Lake Oswego and West Linn. Apple certified.

Lake Oswego households tend to run more equipment than average, and more of it is connected: multiple Macs, iPads, a printer that everyone shares, a NAS or external drive somewhere, cameras, a smart thermostat, and a network that has been added to a piece at a time over ten years.

The failure mode is rarely a single dead device. It is that nobody has a map of the whole thing any more, so when one part misbehaves it is unclear what it is attached to. A good chunk of what I do here is documenting what actually exists before changing anything — which drive the backups are really going to, which of the four wifi names is the current one, what that unlabeled box in the closet is plugged into.

Backups are the recurring gap. Households with a lot of irreplaceable photographs are often running exactly one copy of them, on one drive, in one house. That is the thing I will push you on hardest, and it is usually a cheap fix.

I also do a fair amount of small-office work on this side of the river — practices and consultancies with a handful of staff and no IT person. Scheduled maintenance visits suit that setup well: no contract, no monitoring software, just someone who turns up on a cadence and catches things early.
