You will always be dealing with me.
I am Matt Thompson. I have spent my career in Apple repair and IT support, and IronWood is my own practice. There is no call center, no ticket queue, and no rotating cast of technicians. You get one person who remembers your setup and your history.
The part of this work I care most about is the explaining. Plenty of people can swap a drive. Fewer will sit with you afterward and make sure you understand what happened.
Most of my clients are households and small offices around Portland. A lot of them came to me because somewhere else made them feel foolish for asking a question. That is the thing I am most deliberate about not doing.

What you will not get.
A call center
You reach me. The same person who came to your house last time.
A ticket number
No queue, no case ID, no waiting to be escalated to someone else.
Jargon
If I cannot explain it in plain language, I do not understand it well enough yet.
A sales pitch
If your machine is fine, I will tell you it is fine. If it is not worth repairing, I will say that too.
The drive is on me.
Shops bill for the trip, or make you unplug everything and haul it across town yourself. I do neither. No trip charge anywhere in the Portland metro or southwest Washington.
You pay for the work. Not for the miles between us, and not for the hour it would have cost you to drive your machine somewhere.
Book a visit.
Tell me what is going on and roughly where you are.
